For a 2000 Honda CR-V 4WD EX Auto with 63,584 miles, prices can range from $8,400 (being in above average condition) to $7,700 (being in average condition) and $6,900 (being below average condition). Generally, most dealerships have about a minimum 12%-14% markup from wholesale prices. Expect a dealership to settle for the above figures +$1000. So an average condition CR-V will most likely retail for $8,700. We recommend that you keep negotiating.  There should be plenty of pre-owned Honda CR-Vs around so take some extra time to negotiate a great deal.

In regards to the Pre-Delivery Inspection Fees (PDI for short) we think its outrageous they are charging $695 or almost 7% of the car price to make sure the car they are selling you is up to standards.  Without knowing who the dealer is we don’t like the high PDI fees and the way they do business.  You’d be better off buying from a Honda franchised dealership that is selling the CR-V certified.

In conclusion… the price is bad, the fees are bad, and the whole deal doesn’t sound right.  You should be able to buy the car privately for around $8,000 then go spend a few hundred dollars with a certified local mechanic and get the car inspected yourself.  With the money saved you can afford to get a professional detail for about $100 as a treat.
