How Much Should I Pay: 2008 Mazda 3 & 2008 Toyota Yaris

Question From Luke: Hello, I am looking to buy my first new auto. I have done a lot of research, and I am leaning towards either the Mazda 3 i Sport or Touring model (Both 5-speed sedans). I am in college and of somewhat modest means. I would like to know what price I can reasonably aim for with each of these cars. The only options I would be adding are AC and ABS in the sport model.
Finally, are these cars going to last me through 7 more years of school, or should I swallow my pride and by a Yaris? (Please say no ;)

Thank you.

MuscleCarGuy: Hi There. Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do the car price researching for you.

Congratulations on your first new car. We are glad to help you with this purchase. First let me ask you something, have you done a test drive on both vehicles? I think after you do it, you won’t have a problem deciding in witch one to buy. The only good reason for you to buy the Yaris instead of the Mazda 3 is if you want to save some extra cash. The Yaris is a little cheaper and has a better MPG rate. I personally can say that the Mazda 3 is a awesome car, my wife had a Mazda 3 S for 2 years and I can’t think of a better car for the same price.

So you’ve got the prices, now what? Print out all the blue links above and take them to your local dealerships. But before you go, we recommend you call and make an appointment to see the Internet Fleet Manager because he/she should know exactly what you’re talking about. Stay away from the floor salesmen, go straight to the Internet Sales Manager.

If they aren’t buying into your prices, ask to use one of their computers so they can see where these figures came from. It’ll be impossible for them to doubt you because you’re pulling up a Mazda and Toyota dealership’s website and checking their inventory. Remember, cars are a commodity so these prices apply everywhere in the U.S. This car in New York should cost the same in Arizona. The taxes vary by state.

At the end of the day, this is your hard earned money. If you don’t feel right paying a certain price, walk away. There are some dealerships out there who believe in doing business the right way.
