Question From Gary: I am looking to lease a 2008 BMW 328XI. They are telling me the MSRP new was $38,720. The Base cap cost for my deal is $34,900. Would appreciate your opinion on how are the dollar values. The car has 10,089 miles.

Queen of the Road: Hi Gary. I’m seeing deals where if you paid an extra $1,000, you can buy a brand new 328XI. But then again, it’s $1,000. Below is what I pulled up for the BMW wholesale prices.

For a 2008 BMW 328XI Sedan with 10,100 miles, wholesale prices range from $35,100 (being in above average condition) to $32,200 (being in average condition) and $29,300 (being in below average condition).

A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $32,200 to $38,500. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.
