How Much Should I Pay: 2005 Toyota Matrix

Question From Mary Ann: Hey! We went into a dealership in April inquiring about the Matrix. I was interested in a used, but they had just sold the last two. So the lady we talked to called and said they just got a Matrix in:

2005 Toyota Matrix XR
automatic
41,958 miles
two-wheel drive (doesn’t mention AWD on their website)

I see foglights as an option on the picture. They mention stell wheels. no moonroof, not sure if it has side driver and passenger airbags (not mentioned)

Asking price is $12,845, but it does not include “sales tax, tire tax, registration, title, license plates, and document processing fees.” wonder how much those “document processing fees” are.

I think that’s all the info about the car!

Thanks so much for all your help!!!

MuscleCarGuy: Hi Mary Ann! Welcome back to AutoBragBlog, where we do all the car price researching for you.

For a 2005 Toyota Matrix 2WD XR with 41,958 miles, prices range from $12,800 (being in above average condition) to $11,300 (being in average condition) and $9,900 (being in below average condition).

Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $11,000 to $14,600.

With the prices above we can see that the asking price for the 2005 Toyota Matrix is about right. The car is probably in average condition, so it is very important for you to take it to a mechanic and have them check it to make sure everything is good with the car. Don’t forget to get a CarFax report for the Matrix too. Let us know if you have any other question. Good Luck!!!
