How Much Should I Pay: 2006 Honda Accord

Question From Barb: Hi!   I am looking at a 2006 Honda Accord EX automatic. Leather interior, sat radio system, Anti theft devices(s). The vehicle is a 6 cyl and has 31,088 miles. The dealership is asking $21,985.00

Can you please let know if this is a fair price and what I should be paying for this particular car?

Thanks!
Barb

Queen of the Road: Hi Barb! Welcome back! Wow! $22k. They’re really shooting for the stars on this one. You can purchase a brand new 2008 Honda Accord at that price for less. Here’s the wholesale prices for that Accord.

For a 2006 Honda Accord V6 Coupe EX with 31,100 miles, prices range from $17,400 (being in above average condition) to $16,000 (being in average condition) and $14,500 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $16,200 to $19,300.

Here’s the Lowest Internet Price for a NEW 2008 Honda Accord EX 2dr Coupe (2.4L 4cyl 5A): $21,364.00
MSRP: $24,386.00
ePrice: $21,364.00
Savings: $3,022.00
% OFF MSRP: 12.39%

Barb, that used Accord is far from a deal. Even if you negotiated between $16k-$19k, it’s still not that great of a deal unless you’re approaching wholesale prices. Either he drops his numbers low low low or you keep looking. When you do find another car, come back and we’ll give you the inside scoop again.
