How Much Should I Pay: 2008 Honda Civic

Question From Michelle: I’m looking to purchase a Honda EX sedan. I know the MSRPis 19510, but what is the wholesale price and do you foresee pricing going up in July? May dealers keep telling that inventory is in short supply and they can not guarantee pricing. I don’t believe them. When is it best to buy at the beginning or end of the month?

Michelle

MuscleCarGuy: Hi Michelle, Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do all the car price researching for you. The best time to buy a new car is at the end of the month. Dealers have a goal that they need to reach in sales everymonth, so it is easier for you to get a better deal at the end of the month. Dealers will do anything to reach their goal.

How do you apply these prices?

Print out all the blue links and take them to your local Honda dealerships. But before you go, we highly recommend you call and make an appointment to see the Internet Sales/Fleet Manager because he/she should know exactly what you’re talking about. Avoid the floor salesmen, head straight to the Internet Sales Manager.

If they don’t believe your prices, ask to use one of their computers so they can see where these figures came from. It’ll be impossible for them to doubt you because you’re pulling up a Honda dealership’s website and checking their inventory. Remember, cars are a commodity so these prices apply everywhere in the U.S. This car in New York should cost the same in California. The taxes vary by state.

    MuscleCarGuy,

The question was on the Civic EX model, not the LX that you provided the figures for. I am also thinking of buying the EX model. The lowest price I’ve gotten so far is $19250 w/destination charge, but not OTD. Am I too understand that I should be paying the same price as someone in say Oklahoma when I live in Arizona? Can I order a vehicle from a dealer in another part of the country and have the vehicle shipped?
