How Much Should I Pay: 2008 & 2009 Honda CR-V

Question From Pam: I am looking at purchasing a new vehicle, and prefer a 2008 since I know the 2009 are out and feel I would get a better deal on it. How much am I looking at paying for a new 2008 Honda CRV? Is it hard to bargain down the price considering the 2009’s are out?
Queen of the Road: Hi Pam. You’re thinking on the right track.
The 2008s are better deals because dealerships want to clear out their old inventory for the 2009s. Since that’s the case, we are all temporarily out of 2008 CR-V deals.
The best time to snatch deals are when new models have just hit the lot. For honda’s case, they came out last year. There are release schedules you can find on the brand’s website.
I’ll take a look at some 2009 deals for you. Which trim did you have in mind?
EX 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
EX 4dr SUV AWD (2.4L 4cyl 5A)
EX-L 4dr SUV (2.4L 4cyl 5A)

Please reply your answer in the comment box of the post and I’ll get started on looking up prices.

How much should you pay for a 2009 Ex-L with navigation, fog lights, spoiler, wheel locks and rack? I’ve been looking for a while in the Northern VA area. My mom has a Costco membership and when i started shopping I asked for the Costco price which is supposed to be the cheapest. Well I talked to this one guy and he laughed and said he could beat any dealer offering me “Costco pricing” by at least a few $100.
I started thinking… I wonder if by telling them I was a Costco shopper they automatically were quoting me a set price. Not their best price.
Right now the best quote I have for the above mentioned configuration is $27,950 and that includes some kind of Trim Master protection plan which I have no idea what that is or why they automatically added it.
Thanks for your help!
