How Much Should I Pay: 2008 Acura TL

Question From Kim: Hello ,

Thank you so much for finally replying. I have been looking for an 2008 acura so here’s what I have:

2008 acura TL 3.2 sedan with navigation
Miles : 17023
Sticker price: 27,995

2008 acura TL 3.2 sedan with navigation
Miles: 11934
Sticker price: 31, 880
Both these cars I can get it for 30,000 OTD but I refuse to pay that amount for one they are both service loaner cars.  Let me know what price should I aim for? I’m so tired of haggling prices with these salesmen.

2008 acura TL 3.2 this car is brand new
Miles: 8
Sticker price: 36,940

I really what to aim for this new one. How much should I aim for at a reasonable price?

Thanks a lot. I’m planning to purchase sometime this week.

Queen of the Road: Hi Kim. Good to see that you know exactly what car you want. Remember that you should be getting a discount since these are loaner cars. Remember to stay strong. These dealerships are hurting for business so they may mask that they don’t need your business, but they do.

Acura #1. For a 2008 Acura TL with 28,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $25,600 (being in above average condition) to $24,100 (being in average condition) and $22,700 (being in below average condition).  dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $25,100 to $28,200. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.

Acura #2. For a 2008 Acura TL with 31,900 miles, wholesale prices range from $25,200 (being in above average condition) to $23,700 (being in average condition) and $22,300 (being in below average condition).  dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $24,700 to $27,800. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.

The only new 2008 Acura prices I have are for the MDXs. I can get an idea if you tell me the MSRP and what price you negotiated to.

Check the carfax and do plenty of research on the history of the vehicle. Ask for their maintenance records. You can even bring a mechanic for a brief inspection.
