Indiana’s Honda Plant Prepare For Exporting

The Honda Manufacturing of Indiana is beginning production of Honda Civic sedans for export. The plant’s Civics will be sold in Mexico and 22 Latin American and Caribbean countries, the automaker said. The U.S. remains the company’s primary market for Indiana-build Civics.

The plant, opened in November 2008, produces the Civic sedan and the natural gas-powered Civic GX sedan. Engines for the cars are built at Honda’s plant in Anna. That operation is northwest of Marysville-based Honda of America Manufacturing Inc., the automaker’s North American production headquarters. Japan-based Honda has 14 manufacturing plants in the United States.
