Questio From Mike: I am looking at the auction for a 05-07 2500HD desiel. Crew 26K miles, 8ft bed, loaded. What sort of price is fair for this model? LTZ or LT 4WD. I am looking for an approx baseline. We have been shopping for that year range and they have been all over the place. The mileage that the current one have is 26k LTZ 2007. Thanks.
Queen of the Road: Hi Mike. Welcome to AutoBragBlog!
I’ll throw a few out here…
For a 2005 Chevrolet 2500 Silverado 4WD V8 Crew Cab 6.0L LT with the average miles of 100,000, wholesale prices range from $18,000 (being in above average condition) to $13,800 (being in average condition) and $9,600 (being in below average condition). A fair range for a dealership sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $10,800 to $20,000. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.
For a 2006 Chevrolet 2500 Silverado 4WD V8 Crew Cab 6.0L LT with the average miles of 70,000, wholesale prices range from $20,500 (being in above average condition) to $16,800 (being in average condition) and $13,100 (being in below average condition). A fair range for a dealership sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $14,700 to $22,600. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.
Check the carfax and do plenty of research on the history of the vehicle. Ask for their maintenance records. You can even bring a mechanic for a brief inspection. Here’s a good article to read before continuing: Car Buying Tips From An Insider. Let me know if you have any further car questions.
Good luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes!
