How Much Should I Pay: 2007 Honda Odyssey

Question From KM: How much should I pay for a Honda odyssey EX-L with Navigation & DVD. Has 36K miles. Dealer is asking 25K.

I saw the following response from you for a 26K mile EX_L.

“Hi there. $23,000 isn’t a great deal, unless the Oydessy was in perfect shape. A fair deal, but not a price that I would pay.”

The range appears to be in the 22k to 25K area. If 23k is high, how much is the reasonable offer assuming average condition. I would not imagine navigation to significantly affect the pricing.

Thanks

Queen of the Road: Hi KM. Welcome to AutoBragBlog! Regarding the previous answer, I may have been referring to paying wholesale prices, rather than a price range for a dealer.

For a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L with 36,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $23,600 (being in above average condition) to $21,300 (being in average condition) and $18,900 (being in below average condition).

A fair range for a dealership sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $20,900 to $26,000. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.

Check the carfax and do plenty of research on the history of the vehicle. Ask for their maintenance records. You can even bring a mechanic for a brief inspection. Here’s a good article to read before continuing: Car Buying Tips From An Insider. Let me know if you have any further car questions.

Good luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes!
