How Much Should I Pay: 2004 Honda Civic

Question From Peter: 2004 honda civic lx 4dr and its a 5spd. it has 60k miles and its going for $7,500. is that a good deal?
Queen of the Road: Hi Peter. Welcome to AutoBragBlog! Who’s the seller? If it’s a dealership, then $7.8k is fair, but I’d still bargain. If it’s a private seller, then the price is too high.
For a 2004 Honda Civic Sedan LX 5Sp with 60,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $6,800 (being in above average condition) to $6,400 (being in average condition) and $5,900 (being in below average condition).
A fair range for a dealership sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $6,900 to $7,800. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.
Check the carfax and do plenty of research on the history of the vehicle. Ask for their maintenance records. You can even bring a mechanic for a brief inspection. Here’s a good article to read before continuing: Car Buying Tips From An Insider. Let me know if you have any further car questions.
Good luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes!

Yes, it is a private used car dealership. Not associated with any car maker, they sell multiple makes and models.
Thanks for your help
