How Much Should I Pay: 1993 Toyota Camry
March 25th, 2008
Question: Hi, I am looking at Toyota Camry 1993 4cyl LE Auto 150k miles, what price should I expect from a private seller? Thanks in advance.
Queen of the Road: Hi there. Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do the car price research for you.
For a 1993 Toyota Camry 4C sedan LE with 150,000 miles, prices range from $2,800 (being in above average condition) to $2,300 (being in average condition) and $1,800 (being in below average condition).
These are wholesale prices, so expect something in this range. There aren’t really any reasons why their prices should be inflated unless they’ve added a ridiculous stereo system, shiny rims, tinted windows, you know what I mean. Ask about the history of the car and for all their maintenance records. If you’re certain that you’re going to purchase it, do a carfax and bring a trusted mechanic for a quick inspection.
Are you sure you want to purchase a car older than 10 years? The reason I ask is because of the mechanical issues soon to come. Toyotas are incredible cars, but 10 years should be the maximum. What’s your budget? I’m sure we can help you can find something within a decade for a good price. Where have you tried looking for used cars? Craigslist, AutoTrader?
Follow Up Comment: I want to get a used car for a nephew I sponsor to the US as a foreign student. Since I don’t want to add him to my insurance, I think I should give him a car that he can use around without paying too much for premium and not drive like a crazy kid.
Thank you for your help
Queen of the Road: Hahaha! That’s what I assumed - that this car was for a teenage driver who needs to rear a car or two.
