How Much Should I Pay: 1999 Toyota Camry (Updated)

November 25th, 2008

Question From Mike: how much should i pay for 1999 camry le with 45,000 miles. fully loaded, alloy wheels/premium wheels, leather interior all power, etc.

Queen of the Road: Hi Mike. For a 1999 Toyota Camry V6 Sedan LE with 45,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $5,100 (being in above average condition) to $4,300 (being in average condition) and $3,500 (being in below average condition). A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $4,100 to $5,900. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.

What was the offer? Check carfax and do plenty of research on the history of the vehicle. Ask for their maintenance records. You can even bring a mechanic for a brief inspection. Here’s a good car buying article I recommmend everyone read before completing the car buying process.  Best of luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes! How Much Should I Pay: 1999 Toyota Camry

Question: Year: 1999
Make: Toyota
Model: Camry LE FWD Auto
Mileage: 45000
Buying
From Private Party
Camry is 4C and my zip code is 11204. Thanks!

Queen of the Road: Only 45,000 miles on 1999 Camry? Not too shabby.

For a 1999 Toyota Camry 4C LE with 45,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $6,100 (being in above average condition) to $5,300 (being in average condition) and $4,400 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices.

If you are buying from a dealer you should expect to pay +12%-14% more than wholesale. A dealership’s estimated retail prices could range from $5.1k to $7k. Good Luck with your negotiation and let us know how everything turns out.

Follow Up Comment: It’s a 1999 Camry LE 4CYL with LoJack, passive alarm, keyless entry, powered windows, power driver seat, powered sunroof, CD w/ 6 speaker sound system and rear end spoiler. It’s being sold by a close friend and he doesn’t drive the car very often, mainly during the weekends. That’s the reason for the low mileage.

How Much Should I Pay For: 1999 Toyota Solara SE

December 28th, 2007

Question: One more request for a friend. Looking for pricing on a 99 Toyota Solara SE (4 cylinder). Auto trans, alloy wheels, 10 disc changer in trunk, keyless entry, sunroof. 58,000 miles. Dealer is listing for about $9,900.

Thanks.

Queen of the Road: For a 1999 Toyota Camry Solara 4C SE with 58,000 miles, prices range from $7,050 (being in above average condition) to $6,030 (average condition) and $5,000 (being below average condition).

All the figures are estimated prices that a dealer paid for this car. So keep in mind that those numbers are the wholesale prices. The dealership will aim to sell it for 12%-14% more than wholesale. Best of luck bargaining!
