How Much Should I Pay: 2005 Acura RSX

October 9th, 2008

Question From Melissa: I also have another car to check:

Year: 2005
Make: Acura
Model: RSX - 2 door 5 speed manual
Mileage: 65k
Buying or Selling? Buying
From Private Party or From A Dealership? Both
Zip: 22042

Thanks

Queen of the Road: Hi Again! Keep those car questions coming! The more the merrier.

For a 2005 Acura RSX Coupe 5spd with 65,000 miles, prices range from $14,400 (being in above average condition) to $11,600 (being in average condition) and $8,800 (being in below average condition).

Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $10,100 to $16,200. If the car was sold via private party the price would be about 5%-10% higher than wholesale.

Be sure to check carfax and do plenty of research on the history of the vehicle. Ask for their maintenance records.

How Much Should I Pay: 2005 Acura MDX (Updated)

October 7th, 2008

Question From Pratik:  Hi, I am thingking about getting a 2005 Acura MDX standard with 41k miles on it.. it’s in good condiation, and it’s from a private seller.

Queen of the Road:  Hi Pratik! Welcome! Let’se see what Acura wholesale prices we’ve got here.

For a 2005 Acura MDX 4WD with 41,000 miles, prices range from $16,900 (being in above average condition) to $15,400 (being in average condition) and $13,900 (being in below average condition).

Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $15,500 to $18,700. If the car was sold via private party the price would be about 5%-10% higher than wholesale.

What did the private seller offer you? Be sure to check carfax and do plenty of research on the history of the vehicle. Ask for their maintenance records. You can even bring a mechanic for a brief inspection. Best of luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes! Don’t forget to tell your friends and family about our free personal service.

Follow Up Comment: Hi this price is for what trim? I was looking in to the touring with Navagation…

Queen of the Road:  Hi Pratik. Sorry about that. You had mentioned “Standard” so I researched only standard MDX prices. I’ll get you some prices again.

For a 2005 Acura MDX 4WD Touring w/Navigation with 41,000 miles, prices range from $19,400 (being in above average condition) to $17,500 (being in average condition) and $15,700 (being in below average condition).

Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $17,400 to $21,400.

Is there any other car I can help you research?

How Much Should I Pay: 2005 Acura MDX

September 25th, 2008

Question From Alie: I am looking at 2 2005 Acura MDX’s.
The first one is a TOuring version with 43K miles on it, DVD, GPS, clean car fax. They are asking $24999 at the dealership, but we think we can talk them down.
The second is not a touring version with 46K miles on it still nice, clean car fax, but not the fancy bells and whistles (but the leather!). They are asking 22,999.
Which is a better deal? Are either a good deal? Do these cars last?
They are both 2005, so the mileage seems good, though the lower the better. We want to keep our next car for at least 5 years, is that possible with this car?
THANK YOU!

MuscleCarGuy: Hi Alie. Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do all the car price researching for you.

For a 2005 Acura MDX Touring with Navigation, DVD and with 43,000 miles, prices range from $20,100 (being in above average condition) to $18,400 (being in average condition) and $16,700 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $18,700 to $22,900.

For a 2005 Acura MDX Base with 46,000 miles, prices range from $16,800 (being in above average condition) to $15,200 (being in average condition) and $13,600 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $15,200 to $19,100.

Both deals are bad, you shouldn’t pay more than $22,900 for the Touring and $19,100 for the base MDX. The Acura MDX is a great car and you probably won’t have any problems driving it for 5 years. Just make sure to do all schedule maintanece and you will be fine. Good luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes! Question For AutoBrag: Acura Auction Prices

September 19th, 2008

Question From Martin: I have a buddy who is going to an aution and looking for a 2005 acura tl. What can he expect to get it for? Is 11,000 to 12,000 reasonable

Queen of the Road: Hi Martin. Welcome to our blog! What auction is your friend going to? Is he going for a TL with or without navigation?

It all depends on the mileage of the car. I doubt that $11k-$12k will be enough for a car with low mileage. I mean, a TL without navigation with 100,000 miles averages to $13.2k.

On the other hand, a 2004 TL without navigation with 100,000 miles averages to $11.4k. Is he adamant about the 2005? He can get away with the 2004.

How Much Should I Pay: 2006 Acura MDX (Updated)

June 26th, 2008

This Is An Update To A Previous Question

Question From Kevin:  Hi,  A local dealer is asking $21000 for a used 2005 MDX touring with 44K miles having Nav/DVD/running board. However this is an out-of-state SUV previously registered in N.Y. Details are below:

2005 Acura MDX Touring w/Navigation/DVD

Vin: 2HNYD18935H523235
Miles: 46,448

Please let us know your thoughts about buying out-of-state cars in general. I have checked the carfax for it. I currently live in Norcal

Regards,
Kevin.

Queen of the Road:  Hi Kevin. The offering price is too high, but if you call and try to negotiate, they may lower it. If not, don’t bother. Would you buy the car knowing you’re overpaying? You’re also competiting with people who think they’re getting a great price.

For a 2005 Acura MDX 4WD Touring w/Navi. DVD with 46,450 miles, prices range from $19,200 (being in above average condition) to $17,200 (being in average condition) and $15,200 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $16,900 to $21,200.

You have total advantage at the moment because no one wants to buy SUVs. And everyone is trying to sell their SUVs. I wouldn’t bother with dealers. Have you tried looking for private sellers? You’re more likely to get better deals with them. What area of the bay area do you reside? Look through Craigslist and AutoTrader.
