How Much Should I Pay: 2005 BMW 330XI

October 22nd, 2008

Question From Dan: I am looking to buy a 2005 BMW 330XI Automatic with approx. 50k miles. Your help would be much appreciated!

Queen of the Road: Hi Dan. Welcome to our blog.

For a 2005 BMW 330XI with 50,000 miles, prices range from $19,300 (being in above average condition) to $17,300 (being in average condition) and $15,200 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $17,000 to $21,400.

Be sure to do plenty of research on the car. Do a carfax and bring a trusted mechanic for a quick inspection. Don’t hesitate to ask for all the maintenance papers. If you, or any of your friends, have any further questions, don’t hesitate to ask us anything. Goodluck and keep us posted!

How Much Should I Pay: 2005 BMW X5 (Updated)

May 1st, 2008

Question: Can you please help me in determining the value of the following used SUV?Year : 2005 ( carfax says bought in 12/2004)
Model : BMW X5 3.0
Miles : 18000
Buying from a Dealer near Chicago area in Illinois.

MuscleCarGuy: Hi There! Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do all the car price researching for you.

For a 2005 BMW X5 3.0 with 18,000 miles, prices range from $27,500 (being in above average condition) to $25,300 (being in average condition) and $23,200 (being in below average condition).

Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $26,000 to $31,400.

How much is the dealer asking for the X5? Even if the CarFax says that the car is clean I suggest you to take it to a trusted mechanic and have them inspect the car for you. Let us know if you have any other question. Good Luck!!!

Follow Up Comment: Thanks, I can now negotiate confidently. The dealer is asking $29000 + tax .. and it is the sucky blue color which nobody prefers.

MuscleCarGuy:  Hi There! The $29,000 that the Dealer is asking for the X5 is not bad if the car is in good condition. Unfortunatly the color is not one of the bests, but is better then have one with high mileage and a nice color. When you buy a used car is more important to worry about the condition of the car and the price of the car. You should try to low ball them on the $26,000 range and see what they say. Let us know if you have any other question.

Queen of the Road: Absolutely you can get better. Goodluck with that and keep us posted.
