How Much Should I Pay: 2006 Infiniti G35

August 6th, 2008

Question From Dave:  Perhaps you can help me out:

2006 Infiniti G35 coupe
White
Auto, Nav, Sport package
23,500 miles
Zip code 75006

Dealer asking $27K

Thanks in advance!
- Dooms

Queen of the Road: Thank you for your kind words. Our entire team is very passionate about helping people out. Whoa! $27,000? That’s ridiculous! The scary thing is that some people will never know if $27k is a decent price or not. Here’s the wholesale prices for that car…

For a 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe with 23,500 miles, prices range from $23,500 (being in above average condition) to $21,900 (being in average condition) and $20,300 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $22.4k to $25.8.

Be sure to do plenty of research on the history of the car, Carfax, and have a mechanic do a brief inspection before you buy. Good luck and keep us posted on how everything goes! Don’t forget to tell your friends and family about our free personal service.

Question from Nick: Hi mate,

Can you provide a suggestion for pricing

2006 Infiniti M35 Journey

Queen of the Road: Hi Nick. Good and bad news. Good news: I can get you wholesale prices for all the cars. Bad news: The wholesale prices I give you don’t mention if there is a navigation system/premuim package included. So hopefully the numbers below give you a rough idea of what to pay. Let’s get started…

For a 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport with 8,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $27,900 (being in above average condition) to $26,100 (being in average condition) and $24,400 (being in below average condition). If you are buying from a dealer you should expect to pay +12%-14% more than wholesale. A dealership’s estimated retail prices could range from $26.8k to $30.5k.

For a 2007 Infiniti G35 Sport with 15,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $27,200 (being in above average condition) to $25,500 (being in average condition) and $23,800 (being in below average condition). If you are buying from a dealer you should expect to pay +12%-14% more than wholesale. A dealership’s estimated retail prices could range from $26.2k to $29.9k.

For the GS300, is the style AWD? And for the 2006 Infiniti, AWD?

How Much Should I Sell: 2007 MINI Cooper S

November 7th, 2007

Question:   Seems like there are some really helpful FWers around here!  Could someone help me out with these?

Selling-
Year: 2007
Make: MINI
Model/Trim: Cooper S with JCW package, 6spd, all sports/sports-related packages & options, w/o Nav
Mileage: 11,000

Buying-
Year: 2007
Make: Porsche
Model/Trim: Cayman, 6spd manual, semi-loaded w/o Nav
Mileage: 8000
Seller’s price: $44 grand
OR
Year: 2006
Make: Infiniti
Model/Trim: G35 coupe, 6 spd manual, semi-loaded w/o Nav
Mileage: 10000
Seller’s price: $29 grand

Queen of the Road:   Keep in mind that all these quotes below are wholesale prices, but should vary on by the condition that car is in.

For a 2007 Mini Cooper S with 11,000 miles, prices range from $24,400 (being in above average condition) to $22,600 (average) to $20,800 (being in below average condition).

I’m assuming the Porsche isn’t an “S”. For a 2007 Porsche Cayman Coupe with 8,000 miles,  prices range from $43,900 (being in above average condition) to $41,600 (average) to $39,400 (being in below average condition). Do you think the Porshe being sold is in great condition?

For the 2006 Infiniti G35 Coupe with 10,000 miles,  prices range from $26,100 (being in above average condition) to $24,700 (average) to $23,300 (being in below average condition).  $29k is aiming a bit high for the seller. Simmer it down.

Follow Up Comment:   Wow! $24,400? I paid a pinch over 30 grand for it about 6 months ago! :( Talk about MINI having the highest resale value in the industry. :( Yes, you’re correct about the Cayman. It’s the base version and not the “S” trim. About it’s condition, I’ve test driven the car and it seemed great. There’s a dealer offering a fully loaded Cayman S for 60 grand with 11000 miles on the clock. Anyhow, thanks for all the help.

Queen of the Road:   You have every right to sell your MINI for higher. The price I gave you is what dealers paid for at a car auction and then they mark up the price and sell to customers. As for the Porsche, with 11k miles, average price is $41,400, above average is $43,700. So I think $60k is way up there. WAY up there! I personally recommend
