How Much Should I Pay: 2007 Honda Fit

November 13th, 2008

Question From Dick: The car is in above average condition. It has after market tinted windows and sound proofing installed. Mileage is 14,700. All service records are available. This is a private sale.

Queen of the Road: Hi Dick. Welcome to AutoBragBlog. What is their offering price?

For a 2007 Honda Fit Sport with 14,700 miles, wholesale prices range from $14,000 (being in above average condition) to $12,500 (being in average condition) and $10,900 (being in below average condition). A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $12,500 to $15,600. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.

Be sure to check carfax just in case. Goodluck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes! Don’t forget to tell your friends and family about our free car price service.

How Much Should I Pay: 2007 Honda Fit

November 6th, 2008

Question From Phuong:  How much should I pay for 2007 honda fit base model DX no air, with cruise control,no keyless entry, no power lock. Miles: 19K.
They want 15200, but I think it is too much.

Queen of the Road:  Hi Phuong. Welcome to AutoBragBlog and thank you for your kind comment.

For a 2007 Honda Fit with 19,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $12,700 (being in above average condition) to $11,100 (being in average condition) and $9,600 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices.

A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $10.8k to $14.1k. In this case, the seller is aiming real high. A private seller will usually aim to sell it for 5%-10%.

You’re absolutely right, Phuong. $15,200 is way overpriced. If they won’t budge in price, walk away.

Be sure to check carfax and do plenty of research on the history of each vehicle. Ask for their maintenance records. You can even bring a mechanic for a brief inspection. Here’s a good article I recommmend everyone read before completing the car buying process.  Best of luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes! How Much Should I Pay: 2007 Honda Odyssey

September 20th, 2008

Question: Hi,

I’m looking at buying an Honda Odyssey (in the Seattle area)

Year: 2007
Make: Honda
Model: Odyssey
Trim: EX-L
Mileage: 26,000
VIN:
Buying From Private Party
Asking price is $23,000

How much would such an odyssey sell in an auction? How can I get into an auction in the Seattle area?

Queen of the Road:  Hi there. $23,000 isn’t a great deal, unless the Oydessy was in perfect shape. A fair deal, but not a price that I would pay.

For a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L with 26,000 miles, prices range from $23,200 (being in above average condition) to $21,500 (being in average condition) and $19,900 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices.

A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $22,000 to $25,600. Private seller should range around +5%-10% above wholesale prices. Bargain that price down!

Regarding the auction, I recommend you hire a car broker who can attend a certain auction for you. You shouldn’t go to any auction where the public is admitted.  There’s a difference in the quality of cars.

How do you apply these prices?

Print out all the blue links and take them to your local Honda dealerships. But before you go, we highly recommend you call and make an appointment to see the Internet Sales/Fleet Manager because he/she should know exactly what you’re talking about. Avoid the floor salesmen, head straight to the Internet Sales Manager.

If they don’t believe your prices, ask to use one of their computers so they can see where these figures came from. It’ll be impossible for them to doubt you because you’re pulling up a Honda dealership’s website and checking their inventory. Remember, cars are a commodity so these prices apply everywhere in the U.S. This car in New York should cost the same in Texas. The taxes vary by state.

How Much Should I Pay: 2007 Honda CR-V

July 28th, 2008

Question From Mary Ann: 2007 Honda CR-V
EX-L
4C
auto
31,298 mi
states “4 wheel drive - front” so don’t know if that’s awd or fwd???

asking $24,995 - seems excessive. thinking more in the range of $18-20,000

at a dealer. haven’t seen car, just on-line.

THANKS FOR ALL OF YOUR GREAT HELP!

MuscleCarGuy: Hi Mary Ann. Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do all the car price researching for you.

For a 2007 Honda CR-V EX-L 4WD with 31,298 miles, prices range from $22,500 (being in above average condition) to $21,600 (being in average condition) and $20,600 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $23,000 to $25,600.

If the CR-V has the optional Navigation, you should be able to get it for $24K. If the CR-V doesn’t have the Navigation system you should negotiate for $20-$21K. It has a lot of miles for a 2007, the warranty will expire in less then 5K miles.

Make sure to check carfax and do plenty of research on the history of the vehicle. Good luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes! Don’t forget to tell your friends and family about our free personal service.

June 23rd, 2008

Question From Barb:  Hi!  It’s Barbi again… I found a 2007 Honda Accord 4 sedan EX with 18,336 miles (leather interior). It’s Auto and navigation system. 4cyl. They are asking 22,500.00 which I’m sure is high but I’m not sure what I should expect to pay for this vehicle.

Thanks again for all of your help as I GREATLY appreciated it.

Barbi~

Queen of the Road: Sure thing! The AutoBrag team has a sincere passion for helping people save money and time. So glad we can help prevent you from getting a poor deal.

For a 2007 Honda Accord 4C Sedan EX Auto with 18,300 miles, prices range from $19,000 (being in above average condition) to $17,800 (being in average condition) and $16,600 (being in below average condition). $22,500 is ridiculous. One reader today got a used car dealer to take it from $18k to $14k in one sentence, “I’ll buy it today if you sell it to me for $14k.” So aim for the lowest possible. It never hurts to try.
