How Much Should I Pay: 2007 Mazda 5

October 30th, 2008

Question: thanks.

Year: 2007
Make: Mazda
Model: 5
Trim: Touring level
Mileage: 35000
VIN:
Buying or Selling? Buying
From Private Party or From A Dealership? Dealership
Zip: 17402

Queen of the Road: Hmm… Let’s see what Mazda wholesale prices we have in store for you…

For a 2007 Mazda5 Wagon Touring with 35,000 miles, wholesale prices range from $12,700 (being in above average condition) to $12,100 (being in average condition) and $11,500 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices.

A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $13k to $14.2k. What was the offer from that dealership?

How Much Should I Pay: 2007 Mazda3 I

May 22nd, 2008

Question From M.Y.: Hi there,

It looks like we missed that deals (those Mazda3’s don’t seem to stay in used car lot long). Then we found another one, which I like:

2007 Mazda3 i Touring
About 27,000 miles
Automatic Transmission
Color: True Red

The car seems to have a set of new tires.

Exterior has few very minor dents, but otherwise looks really good. Interior looks really good, other than one button on CD player seems to be broken.

The dealer have $14,700 listed on it, and I don’t think they’d budge.

Queen of the Road: Hi, M.Y. Yes, Mazdas are very popular among the used cars. They’re great cars for minimal prices. Here’s what we’ve got for that model…

For a 2007 Mazda3 I Touring with 27,000 miles, prices range from $13,700 (being in above average condition) to $13,000 (being in average condition) and $12,200 (being in below average condition). A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $13,700 to $15,300.

Personally, I wouldn’t pay $14.7k for an average condition car. Try talking it down because if you buy at that price, you’re not getting a deal. You can mention that you have a dealer friend that informed you of the wholesale prices and that you won’t buy at retail price.

This Is An Update To A Previous Question

Queen of the Road: Hi there! Below is each year with both 4D and 5D figures. I set the 2005 and 2007 mileage at 30,000 so you’ll know the maximum price you should pay. Once you find a specific Mazda3, then just let us know the exact mileage and we’ll narrow the price down for you.

For a 2005 Mazda3 4D I with 30,000 miles, prices range from $13,300 (being in above average condition) to $11,600 (being in average condition) and $9,800 (being in below average condition). Best of luck and keep us posted on how the purchase goes! Tell your friends and family about our free personal service.

Follow Up Comment: Holy crap, that’s some detail you got!  I really appreciate this info. I’ve done more shopping over this weekend, and dealers don’t seem to want to deal too low.

My first negotiation for 2005 Mazda3 with about 30,000 miles yielded about $14,500 out of the door, and 2008 Mazda3 with about 10,000 miles (no power windows/lock/etc) yielded about $15,500 out of the door. I guess I’ll keep on looking for better deals.

Question: Hi! Thanks for your time.
Year: 2005-2008
Make: Mazda
Model Mazda3 i Sport 2.0L w/ Automatic Transmission

Actually I could go either way. I believe 5dr only comes with 2.3L engine while 4dr comes with both 2.0 and 2.3.

I had a quick glance at local used Mazda3, and it sounds like both 4 and 5dr versions are probably within our ball game, as long as they are few years old.
