Since you’re new here, I’ll explain how to apply these prices…

What are all these blue links for? The first blue link breaks down the numbers so that you don’t have to do any math or researching. You’ll see exactly how much money you’re saving if you pay the “Internet Price”. It also lists the National Average Discount, the National Maximum Discount and the National Average Price for each vehicle. We also provide our personal opinion to whether we think the deal is good or not.

If we approve the deal, we’ll show a thumbs up and “Bring Your Checkbook“.

If we think the deal is ok, we’ll show a thumb tilted sideways and “Fair Market“.

If we disapprove the deal, we’ll show a thumbs down and “Keep Shopping“.

The second blue link is the proof you’ll need when you step foot onto the dealership. Don’t leave home without it! It’s the page that shows the price which you’ll be asking for. It’s basically what you need to pull up on their computers if they don’t believe you found that price online form that dealer’s inventory.

So now what? Print out all the blue links above and take them to your local dealerships. But before you go, we highly recommend you call and make an appointment to see the Internet Fleet Manager because he/she should know exactly what you’re talking about. Avoid the floor salesmen, head straight to the Internet Sales Manager.

If they don’t believe your prices, ask to use one of their computers so they can see where these figures came from. It’ll be impossible for them to doubt you because you’re pulling up a dealership’s website and checking their inventory. Remember, cars are a commodity so these prices apply everywhere in the U.S. If you want to research more new car prices, poke around on www.autobrag.com. Keep us posted with how everything goes.

Let us know if you or your friends/family need any advice or have any further questions. Goodluck, Jason!

How Much Should I Pay: 2008 Nissan Altima (Updated)

July 9th, 2008

Question From Carsen: How much should I pay for a used 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 S. It has 14,000 miles and is in good condition (would not say excellent). The dealer is saying they have had the car for almost 90 days and will be selling it at auction soon. I am at $16,400 right now.

Thank you.

MuscleCarGuy: Hi Carsen. Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do all the car price researching for you.

To best help you with the right price you should pay for that 2008 Nissan Altima I will need more information on it. It is a Sedan or Coupe?

Please respond in the reply/comment box to ensure a faster response.

Follow Up Comment: I knew I left out a detail, and I double checked to avoid that.

It is a Sedan.

MuscleCarGuy: Hi Carsen.

For a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5S Sedan with 14,000 miles, prices range from $17,650 (being in above average condition) to $17,000 (being in average condition) and $16,300 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $18,200 to $20,000.

With the wholesale prices for a used 2008 Nissan Altima, you are getting a good deal on that car. The dealer will probably get close to $16,000 if they sell it in a auction, but if they sell it for you they don’t need to worry about transporting the car to auction an all the work involved on the process, plus they will probably make some money on the finance, if you finance the car with them.

I checked some No-Haggle prices for a new 2008 Nissan Altima for you to have an idea how much some dealers are selling the same car for.

For a 2008 Nissan Altima 2.5 S 4dr Sedan (2.5L 4cyl CVT),

The Biggest Percentage Off MSRP Price: $17,598.00
MSRP: $21,550.00
ePrice: $17,598.00
Savings: $3,952.00
% OFF MSRP: 18.34 %

2nd Biggest Percentage Off MSRP Price: $20,419.00
MSRP: $23,975.00
ePrice: $20,419.00
Savings: $3,556.00
% OFF MSRP: 14.83 %

Question For AutoBrag: What Should I Buy?

June 10th, 2008

Question From Robert: I’m looking at 2 SUVs for my wife and wasn’t sure which was a better buy. The two are Pontiac Torrent and Nissan Rogue. We like the Pontiac brand and that it is American but we also like the price of the Nissan as well as the fuel efficiency.

MuscleCarGuy: Hi, Robert. Welcome to our blog! To best help you chose the right SUV for you, we will have to compare both.

For a 2008 Pontiac Torrent 4dr SUV (3.4L 6cyl 5A),

The Biggest Percentage Off MSRP Price: $21,699.00
MSRP: $28,265.00
ePrice: $21,699.00
Savings: $6,566.00
% OFF MSRP: 23.23 %

For a 2008 Nissan Rogue SL 4dr SUV (2.5L 4cyl CVT),

The Biggest Percentage Off MSRP Price: $18,876.00
MSRP: $22,260.00
ePrice: $18,876.00
Savings: $3,384.00
% OFF MSRP: 15.20 %

Even with the bigger discount for the Torrent the price for the Nissan Rogue is still cheaper, that gives one point for the Rogue.

For the used market, we don’t have prices for the Nissan Rogue, because it is a new model that just was released a couple months ago.

For a 2007 Pontiac Torrent with 25,000 miles, prices range from $13,200 (being in above average condition) to $12,500 (being in average condition) and $11,800 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices.

Crash Test and Rollover Ratings for the 2008 Nissan Rogue

Crash Test and Rollover Ratings for the 2008 Pontiac Torrent

The Torrent has a slightly better rating on the crash test.

The Factory Warranty is the same for both vehicles.

The estimated fuel economy for the 2008 Pontiac Torrent is 17 MPG in the city and 24 MPG on the Highway. If we calculate an average of 20.5 MPG for the Torrent and an average of 12,000 per year, you will need to use a total of 585.37 gallons per year. Using the national average of $4.039 a gallon of gasoline, the total cost for one year with the Torrent will be $2,364.29.

The estimated fuel economy for the 2008 Nissan Rogue is 22 MPG in the city and 27 MPG on the Highway. If we calculate an average of 24.5 MPG for the Rogue and an average of 12,000 per year, you will need to use a total of 489.80 gallons per year. Using the national average of $4.039 a gallon of gasoline, the total cost for one year with the Rogue will be $1,978.29.

In our opinion it will probably be a better option to go with the 2008 Nissan Rogue. It is cheaper, depreciates less and has a better fuel economy, compared with the 2008 Pontiac Torrent. Let us know if you have any other question.
