How Much Should I Pay: 2008/2009 Toyota Sienna

September 8th, 2008

Question From Tarik:  2008 Siena XLE LTD with DVD
Vin # 5TDZK22C385203476
Toyota of Orlando given me the price of MSRP
$ 38138
Lowest price $ 31,495
2008/2009 Toyota LTD, XLE, LE

I am looking for the best deal on large Size Family Van like the Nissan Altima you had on your blog. I could pick any one of them with a leather.

We have 1998 Isuzu Rodeo 4X4 Drive and have 164000 Miles. Can you recommend the way to get the best deal from the dealer. I was disappointed how in 2008 the car salesman was selling me a car with 1908 attitude and mentality, nothing changed of the sales process. We are looking to get a Family Van replacing the Redo this weekend.
May Allah (The Creator) bless and reward you for helping us with our car buying process.

P.S. I wanted to get internet pricing, the same sales person called instead of offering me a internet price they all wanted to pick my brain and use the same technique on the phone

Queen of the Road: Hi Tarik. Welcome to our blog! Crazy, isn’t it? The strategy of selling cars is still quite old fashioned. I’d be happy to help find you a good deal. But note that the best deals are the ones without the DVD entertainment system. Before I get started, I just want to confirm: Are you sure you’d like the XLE without AWD? We have AWD deals as well.

Regarding your Isuzu, what style it is? S or LS?

How Much Should I Pay: 2008 Honda Accord EX-L & 2008 Honda Accord EX

August 27th, 2008

Question From Michael:  I’m looking to purchase a new car within the next few weeks. I’d be paying cash for the car. Also I have a 98 Camry LE in mint condition with 50,000 miles on it that I’d like to trade. What can I expect to pay “out the door”?

Queen of the Road: Hi Michael. Welcome to AutoBragBlog! Before we get started, I’ll need quite a bit of info. in order to find the precise model. Regarding the OTD prices, it’s almost impossible for me to determine simply because there are several fees that vary by state, car brand, dealership, etc..

Let’s start with the Camry. Is the camry a V6 or 4C? The wholeprices I give you may not even come close to what they’ll offer as a trade-in. This is another way dealerships make money. I always recommend people try selling before trading-in.

For the Accord EX-L, do you want a sedan or coupe? 4cyl or V6? If you choose a coupe, there’s an option for manual.

For the Accord EX, 4cyl or V6? Please leave all info in the comment box.

How Much Should I Sell: 1998 Honda Accord

August 15th, 2008

Question:  here’s another one, I need to get rid of my accord

98
Honda
Accord Lx v6 Coupe, black
109K miles

Private seller, San Jose, CA

Avg condition kbb is mid $5k

Queen of the Road: Hello there. For a 1998 Honda Accord V6 Coupe LX Auto with 109,000 miles, prices range from $4,100 (being in above average condition) to $3,000 (being in average condition) and $1,900 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $2.5k to $4.9k.

If you private sell your car you should be able to get about 5%-10% more from what the dealers will offer you on the trade in. Take some nice digital shots and post an ad up in Craigslist or AutoTrader. Don’t forget to tell your friends and family about our free personal service. Best of luck and let us know if there’s anything else we can help you with.

How Much Should I Sell: 1998 Honda Civic

June 28th, 2008

Question: I have a 98 EX, with 116k miles. The airbags deployed in an accident but the car still has a clear title. I’m asking 4500 OBO, but after 2 months, I’ve had nothin but tire kickers and flakes…I get a lot of calls on it even with that info in the ad, and the car is in great shape cosmetically and mechanically. I’m starting to wonder if I’m asking too much or if the market is just really slow right now. Anybody have any advice?

Queen of the Road: Hello there. If you didn’t have those airbag issues, $4,500 is a very fair price to ask. The market is slow, but the good news is, people are trying to downsize their cars. SUV owners are trying to sell their gas guzzlers before they can seal a deal for a compact.

If it’s a Coupe…

Prices range from $4,600 (being in above average condition) to $3,700 (being in average condition) and $2,700 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $3,400 to $5,400.

If its a Sedan…

Prices range from $4,300 (being in above average condition) to $3,500 (being in average condition) and $2,700 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $3,300 to $5,100.

Again, if you didn’t have those airbag issues, your price would be fine. It also depends on your advertisement. Have you posted ads online (Craigslist or AutoTrader)? Were there plenty of pictures of your car? Did you give an abundance of info? Here’s more tips for selling you car.

How Much Should I Pay: 1998 Volkswagen Jetta

April 17th, 2008

Question:  hi, super useful thread!

Year: 1998
Make: VW
Model: Jetta GLX — Manual, pretty sure it’s the 6-cylinder
Trim: spoiler, sunroof, leather, pioneer CD player with aux line-in.
Mileage: about 70,000
VIN: don’t have it on me, but i’m the only person that’s ever owned it, if that makes a difference!
Buying or Selling? selling
From Private Party or From A Dealership? to anyone that will give me money.

it’s in pretty good shape, a few scratches here and there, but most people can’t believe it’s 10 years old. i don’t have the skills to DIY the repairs i believe will be heading my way after 100k miles, and will be living in boston where i don’t really want to drive anyway.

i’m basically trying to decide if i should sell this in/around chicago, near my parents in southwest michigan, or in boston.

Queen of the Road: Hi there. Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do all your car price researching for you.

For a 1998 Volkswagen Jetta V6 Sedan GLX with 70,000 miles,  prices range from $3,900 (being in above average condition) to $3,100 (being in average condition) and $2,400 (being in below average condition).

Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. If a dealer were trying to sell it, they would up the wholesale prices +12%-14%. A dealership’s estimated retail prices could range from $3k to $4.6k. So there’s a range you could sell your car for.

I wouldn’t be surprised if you’re gawking at these figures. Only 10 years old and worth a few Gs. It’s too bad that cars are the fastest depreciators. These prices are appliable through out the whole country so you can sell in both places for the same price.

I’m not too familiar with how populated both locations are, but I’m assuming Boston has more people. Here’s all the 1998 VX Jettas being sold on Craigslists Boston.
There are less up for sale in Chicago.

You can try selling before you leave and if no luck, try again in Boston. Have you sold a car before? Let us know if you need any help. Selling is car is easy if you have the right help!
