How Much Should I Sell: 1995 Lexus LS400

August 13th, 2008

Question: Thank you for all your help!

Year: 1995
Make: Lexus
Model: LS400
Trim: v8
Mileage: 100000
Selling? perhaps tradein?

Thanks

Queen of the Road: Hi there! Welcome back. Let’s see what we’ve got here…

For a 1995 Lexus LS400 with 100,000 miles, prices range from $5,200 (being in above average condition) to $4,500 (being in average condition) and $3,600 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $4.3k to $6.1k.

The quote you get from trade-in may not even come close to what you’re expecting. I guarantee that if you sell privately, you will save money. The average percentage when selling privately is 5% to 10% over wholesale prices.

How Much Should I Sell: 2008 Acura MDX

Question From Jay: 2008 Acura MDX Tech with running boards, 7500 miles in Seattle, WA

I would like to know what to expect for trade in and private parties.

Tx

MuscleCarGuy: Hi Jay. Welcome to AutoBragBlog, where we do all the car price researching for you.

For a 2008 Acura MDX Technology with 7,500 miles, prices range from $32,500 (being in above average condition) to $30,500 (being in average condition) and $28,400 (being in below average condition). Are you tradeing in your car or private selling? If you trade in your MDX you should expect to get the wholesale value for it. If you private sell your car you should be able to get about 5%-10% more from what the dealers will offer you on the trade in. EVERYONE THAT CAME TO LOOK AND DRIVE IT ALWAYS SAID IT WAS LOUD. I FINALLY TOLD THEM I WOULD TAKE $1,500 AND NO CALLS. CALLED CARMAX AND THE CLOSEST ONE TO ME IS AN HOUR & 1/2 AWAY AND THEY WILL ONLY GIVE WHAT THEY WOULD PAY WHOLESALE OR AT AN AUCTION. MINOR RECONDITIONING IS ALL IT NEEDS AND THIS HAS BEEN AN AWESOME CAR FOR ME. How Much Should I Sell: 2006 Mazda3 S (Updated)

June 9th, 2008

This Is An Update To A Previous Question

Follow Up Comment: Sold this evening at $12,900…I did not want to pay $200 in taxes next week and another $300 for insurance next month. Besides it needs tires soon, I figured that into the price.
The guy bought it for his stepson and drives a 2008 Corolla. While he was driving it, he said he might keep the Mazda for himself and give the Corolla to his stepson. The car does need tires, but I figured if I replaced them before selling, I wouldn’t be able to recoup that money, it would’ve been around $600. Even though times are tough, I think small economical cars will sell good because that’s what people want now.

Thanks for your advise. Good thing I turned down Carmax…I would have just kept it rather than take a loss. Take care.

How Much Should I Sell: 2006 Mazda3 S (Updated)

June 7th, 2008

This Is An Update To A Previous Question

Queen of the Road: Hi Shazman! You’ve come to the right place for the inside scoop.

For a 2006 Mazda3 S with 29,500 miles, prices range from $13,900 (being in above average condition) to $12,900 (being in average condition) and $12,000 (being in below average condition). Keep in mind that the numbers above are the wholesale prices. A dealership will usually aim to sell it for +12%-14% more than wholesale, so their estimated retail prices could range from $13,500 to $15,500.

$11,500? Wow, Carmax went real low. They never cease to amaze me. I recommend that you post your car online, Craigslist and AutoTrader. Take plenty of pictures of the car. Pull out all those maintenance records, get the car washed, etc.
